Our Story

For eight years we ran the highly successful Aquatic Rooms in Edinburgh.
Our  move out of the city was prompted by traffic gridlock in Edinburgh and by the easy accessibility our new premises had to offer, being around a ten/fifthteen  minute journey from Newcraighall Fort Kinnaird, Dobbies Garden Centre & Butterfly World.

ELA,  "East Lothian Aquatics"  formed on the lifelong love and fascination for all things aquatic AND the ability to earn a living

 "The Past"

Petset formed in Sept 2000, Leith Walk  was very successful  and after just one year outgrew its premises,  moving to larger store just 100 yards down "the walk" Aquatic rooms was born. Over the next 6 years the store grew into one of the Edinburgh's if not Scotland best known aquatic stores , priding itself on friendly knowledgeable advice  from staff who were all aquatics mad .

"The Trams"

2007 brought the first stage's in the preparation for bringing  Edinburgh Trams  down  Leith Walk !!! Boarding's,  railings , no right turn , no left turn signs ,hole after hole with  huge blocks of The Walk cut off. Total shambles business after business had to close, some which had been there for decades, Leith was unrecognisable, at the same time i had been having  visions of a aquatic superstore ,  a Mecca for aquatic/reptile  keepers .........where ???

"East Lothian Aquatics"

After searching Edinburgh for a location and , very nearly acquiring a site off Easter road although location was great it needed too much work and at 3000 sq feet not as large as I had wanted, I looked further afield East Lothian ,  Musselburgh, Prestonpans,  Wallyford nothing stuck out,  till i found a unit in Tranent, formerly "Camping Ecosse" 5,000 square feet shed, it was perfect apart from one thing,  it is in the middle of the countryside, no public transport , would people travel ???.
After fighting to survive on a daily basis in Leith I decided that not taking  a chance on Tranent would be a mistake .
